Love this portafilter basket. Just as advertised, the grind needs to be more coarse, and this reduces over-extraction and bitterness. I'm highly satisfied.
Grinding coffee for this type of portafilter can be somewhat challenging. It is recommended to set your grinder slightly coarser than your usual setting used with a standard portafilter to achieve optimal results.
Well made. Adds a lot of clarity to your shot if that’s what you are looking for!
My only complaint is that it isn’t magnetic compatible.
If it were ferromagnetic it’d be a 5 star for sure!
The 18 gm filter works wonderfully. Interestingly, the puck comes out of it very cleanly but the 24 gm filter does not release the puck cleanly so I have stopped using it.
Fitted it onto my bianca stock bottomless portafilter holder. find it quite difficult to dial in with the portafilter no matter how I tweak the grind size or dose - almost never get a single flowing stream - though a double shot (18.5 gram = 36 gram) can be achieved within 25 -30 seconds. The espresso tasted slightly sweeter than the bianca portafilter. Guess taste is the ultimate the most important result. Overall, this a good additional portafilter for different taste profile.
Absolutely the best thing you can do is to use one of these Porter filters. There's nothing that I have done in pulling an espresso shot that is rewarded me with more flavor and smoothness to a shot then to use this Porter filter. May sound like big claims but if you know, you know. And now I know.
As usual the product quality is top notch.
It's a learning curve in operation, being of step-down design, the grind has to be adjusted quite a bit to dial in a perfect shot and the resulting coarser grind gives a distinctly milder flavour profile.
Probably more suitable for tastes tending towards the milder smoother shot....or maybe try with a darker roast bean for a stronger shot.
Such a game changer, it almost feels like cheating (like a pressurized basket?). It’s a joy to watch - I use a shot mirror - with seemingly all holes active the entire extraction. Love it.
I order a barista tool from LASTAFOREST on July 23, 2026. I payed US$17.89 for shipping with the 4-6 working days of delivery time. It arrived only on August 12. I got no explanations, no excuses. could i know what's the grind size different from the standard potafilter? it seen like it couldn't extract event with bigger grind size, the extraction timing can exit more than 50sec.
I have been using this basket for 6 weeks. I notice no difference in my espresso taste between this basket and my traditional basket. Just one person’s opinion.
